On Wednesday April 25th, the winners of the Plastic Recycling Awards will be announced during the International Plastics Recycling Show Europe in Amsterdam. Dranken Pallet Beheer Nederland (DPB), the joint pallet pool for Dutch beer brewers and soft drink producers, is nominated with their plastic pallet in the category Best packaging product from recycled plastic.
DPB pallets are produced from 100% recycled plastics and at the end of the life cycle, the pallet will be recycled once more and used again for new pallets.
More sustainable
To further reduce the ecological footprint of products, there was the desire from the brewers and soft drink producers to manufacture the pallet more sustainable. That is why the wooden pallet pool is completely replaced by the plastic pallets, made from 100% recycled plastic HDPE produced by Cabka-IPS, of DPB as of 2012.
Less CO2 emissions
With 25 kilograms, the plastic pallet is 15 kilograms lighter than the former wooden pallet. This provides advantages. On the one hand, this makes the daily handling of the pallets easier and safer for the production specialists. On the other hand, the lower weight means a reduction in CO2 emissions in logistic centers, warehouses and transport, according to DPB.
