Op het World Economic Forum 2018 dat onlangs in Davos is gehouden, hebben bedrijven zoals Unilever, Coca-Cola, Mars en Pepsico zich gecommitteerd om uiterlijk in 2025 voor 100% te zijn overgestapt op herbruikbare, recyclebare en composteerbare plastics.
Deze bedrijven zien composteren als een belangrijke afvalverwerkingsoptie, concludeert Holland Bioplastics. Daarom is des te opmerkelijker dat composteerders in Nederland dit proberen te blokkeren, of zoals Christiaan Bolck van de WUR (Wageningen University & Research) het recent verwoordde: ‘Deze keuze lijkt erop gericht om de dinosaurussen te laten voortleven’.
Ook internationale onderzoeksinstellingen zien in hun rapport The New Plastics Economy een aanzienlijke rol weggelegd voor composteren en vergisten van plastics. Aan dit rapport hebben een scala aan bedrijven deelgenomen, zoals Nestlé, IKEA, McKinsey en DSM, informeert Holland Bioplastics.

These companies find composting a major waste disposal option, claims Holland Bioplastics. It is therefore all the more remarkable that composters in the Netherlands try to block this, or as Christiaan Bolck of the WUR (Wageningen University & Research) recently put it: ‘This choice seems to perpetuate the dinosaurs’.
Also international research institutes envisage a significant role for composting and fermenting of plastics in their report. A range of businesses such as Nestlé, IKEA, McKinsey and DSM participated in this report, Holland Bioplastis informs.
